Mission Statement:
The Friends of Southern Lehigh Public Library (FSLPL) is an association of individuals who share a common interest: the well-being and financial stability of the library. Friends’ fundraising efforts and their volunteer activities help to ensure that the library’s collections and services will continue to meet the needs of the community that it serves, Upper Saucon Township, Coopersburg and Lower Milford Township.

Brief History:
In 2007, Joseph and Sandra Andreucci, co-founders of FSLPL, organized a group of dedicated individuals from each of the locally served communities. Their purpose was and remains to guide the organization’s efforts to increase an awareness of the library, and to encourage support and use of the Southern Lehigh Public Library.

FSLPL Board:
The Friends governing board consists of president, vice-president in charge of membership, secretary and treasurer.

FSLPL Activities:

  • Sponsor cultural activities at the library, such as story telling, dramatic skits, and musical programs
  • Provide programs of interest
  • Provide financial gifts to the library in support of its services. Since 2010 the Friends have underwritten the library's summer reading program among one of the many services.
  • Provide financial gifts to the library so that it can purchase equipment and important materials which might exceed the library’s budget.
  • Sponsor Keystone-Miller Blood Drives
  • Help with library mailings and newsletters
  • Hold fundraising activities such as Cookie/Fudge Sale, Holiday Bazaar, Bus trips, Antique Appraisal and Auction, Book and Bake Sales and manage the Book Sale Room at the library.

Meetings:

FSLPL meets the second Monday of each month (unless a holiday, then rescheduled for the following Monday) at 1:00 PM in the library meeting room. All library patrons and interested persons are welcome to attend.

LIST OF PARTICIPATING RETAILERS     FAMILY ORDER FORM

Gift CardsHere is how Scrip works:

  • You buy retail gift cards through the Friends of SLPL Scrip Program at face value. Choose from over 400 national retail stores including supermarkets, gas stations & restaurants.
  • Friends of SLPL buy the gift cards at 1 - 25% less than the face value (varies by retailer).
  • The difference between face value and what Friends of SLPL pays = Friends of SLPL earnings!
  • It’s just that easy!

Here's an example:

Mrs. Smith needs groceries so she buys a $100 Giant Food Stores gift card through FSLPL. Wow...she just earned $4 for FSLPL because the Giant card is available to SLPL through it’s Scrip Program for 4% less than face value! She can do the same with Weiss Markets for 5%! Mrs. Smith checks out and uses her Giant or Weiss gift card to pay for her groceries instead of her credit/debit card! She will do the same thing when she needs gardening tools from Home Depot and earn $4 just by using a $100 Home Depot gift card!

FSLPL Bus Trip: Price of Freedom Tour

Amish Experience Underground Railroad

Bus Trip

Join us in learning more about the people and stories of the underground railroad in PA. Our tour starts with a magic lantern show (popular entertainment in late 1800s) followed by an actor representing a freeman explaining how they helped slaves escape via the underground railroad. We then board our bus with a guide for a 1-hour tour of the countryside where an actual underground railroad site will be explained. We return to the theater for a presentation of “Jacob’s Choice.” Our Amish lunch is family-style at Plain & Fancy restaurant. We’ll have free time at Kitchen Kettle Village before returning home.
