AMERICAN CIVIL WAR BATTLEFIELD MEDICAL PRACTICES

During mid-19th century America, very little was known about the causes of diseases, and there were no antibiotics, so infection was the most common cause of death for wonded Civil War soldiers. Battlefield surgeons were underqualified and field hospitals were understaffed and poorly supplied. The most common operation was amputation. Please join us for an interesting and informative evening.
